Tyre Safety checks

Your car tyres are the physical point of contact between you and the road. For this reason, your tyres are the most important part of your car when it comes to your safety on the road. To stay safe here is just a small number of quick checks you can give your tyres before you set off on your next journey:

  • Check that your tyres are correctly inflated to the right pressure for your vehicle and its load.
  • Check that your wheels are aligned and balanced.
  • Check that the tread depth of the tyres is at least 1.6mm.
  • Keep an eye out for cracking/grazing of the side wall of the tyre.
  • Look for bulges in your tyres.

At BestDrive by Continental, we care for your safety on the roads and tyre safety is a very important factor in that. That’s why it’s important for us that you understand the quality and trustworthiness of the tyres stocked at our branches across the country. The tyres available at BestDrive come in 3 different standards, differing in quality, tyre manufacturers and price. All of our tyres meet the recommended NCT tyre safety standard.

Here is some tyre safety information for each of our tyre standards:

Premium

As the name suggests, Premium Tyres are the best on the market. The quality of a tyre is determined by how quickly it enables you to stop your car, how well it holds the road and by how long it lasts. You pay more for a Premium tyre because the materials, design and manufacture that go into it, give you the best on all three counts. With Premium tyres you are also paying for the rigorous testing that ensures their superior standard.

Quality

Quality tyres are made to high specification but they are cheaper because the materials used in their manufacture are cheaper and do not provide the shortest stopping distance. They will wear down more quickly than Premium tyres and therefore have to be replaced sooner.

Economy

While economy tyres meet NCT Safety Standards, they have an even longer stopping distance than Quality tyres and will need to be replaced more frequently.
